MEDICINE WHEEL BUILDING CEREMONY
The Medicine Wheel is a physical representation of Spiritual Energy used to create a sacred space. It creates a circle of protection which allows us to gather surrounding energies into a focal point and to commune with Spirit, Self and Nature. Based on cycles of time, it is a means of rooting oneself within the Earth and thereby attuning with the harmonies of the universe.

Shamans have used it as a tool to connect with the infinite for the upliftment, betterment and medicine for mankind and the planet as a whole. This often involves inner reflection, prayer, ceremony and connection with All That Is. The energy within the wheel, especially while performing ceremonies, is experienced as multidimensional and surreal. It is believed to have great power and to help create change and global healing.

The Medicine Wheel recognizes the Law of Oneness. Each of us is deeply connected to everything that exists. Therefore, what we are doing to other life forms, we do to ourselves. We travel [walk] around this wheel experiencing life from as many positions (stones) as possible. Every living creature will one day see and experience each spoke of the wheel and know these truths. Through it, we can sit in meditation at specific positions within the wheel to gain insight of ourselves and eventually merge and think as one being.

Various forms of Medicine Wheels have been constructed all over the world. Native Americans have used them for centuries. Stonehenge in England is considered by some to be an example of one of them. Paganism also has used a form of the Medicine Wheel when it applied the sacred circle and the 4 directions in its rituals.

Creating a Medicine Wheel involves creating a circle and using stones, the 4 directions, the 4 elements and power animals. Ceremonies are done with the guidance of Spirit and the Great Mystery through the use of prayer, meditation, magic and/or healing. Song, dance, drumming, symbols and smugging may also be involved. Each position has a stone and an animal associated with it along with astrological significance . Many Medicine Wheel ceremonies were connected to the sun and moon cycles.
